From a single piece of leather
Every MAEYJA bag is cut and stitched by skilled hands in our Istanbul atelier. A closer look at the journey of a bag.
MAEYJA bags are designed in France and brought to life in our Istanbul atelier. Wherever possible, each model is made from a single piece of leather. The fewer the seams, the purer the form and the more durable the bag.
Cutting
The leather is cut by hand, once its grain and texture have been examined, piece by piece. The finest side of each piece is placed where the bag is most seen.
Folding and stitching
The edges are skived, folded and patiently stitched. Each bag that leaves the atelier represents around two days of handwork.
Finishing
Edge paint is applied by hand, zips and straps are fitted, and every bag is inspected individually. Production is limited, because we do not rush.
